Convert Foreign Car License to Thai License - Bangkok

Convert your foreign car license (licence, in UK spelling) to a Thai license in Bangkok. We check your documents before you travel, book the appointment and meet you at the DLT, so nothing gets rejected on the day and the visit takes about 1.5 hours.

No driving tests to take

Your foreign car license takes the place of the theory test and the practical test, so you sit neither when you convert through us. The eye and reaction tests are mandatory for every applicant and take a few minutes.

Who can convert

• You hold a valid car license from your home country. We ask for at least 6 months of validity remaining.
• You hold a long-stay visa such as Non-Immigrant O or B. Tourist visas generally do not qualify.
• You have an address on record with a TM30 and a Residence Certificate. We can arrange both if you do not have them yet.

Documents you need

• Passport, original and copy
• Valid visa
• Your existing car license
• Residence Certificate, from Immigration or your embassy
• TM30 confirmation of your registered address
• Medical certificate, issued within 30 days
• Passport-sized photos

If your license is not in English or Thai, it needs an official translation first. We can guide you on this.

What happens on the day

1. Send us photos of your documents. We tell you what is missing before you travel.
2. We book your slot, usually within the same week.
3. At the DLT, staff check your paperwork, you take the eye and reaction tests, and you pay the fee.
4. You receive a temporary 2-year Thai car license, upgradable to a 5-year license later.

Our DLT office

We work only with Bangkok Transportation Office Area 3 at 2479 Sukhumvit Road, Bang Chak, close to our shop in On Nut. We do not take license clients to other DLT offices. We are the first Fatboy's in Thailand, open since 2014, and we have taken thousands of clients through the DLT.

Living outside Bangkok?

If you are in Pattaya, Chonburi or another area within 1 to 2 hours, you make a single trip to Bangkok. We handle the paperwork checks by message in advance.
