Convert motorbike and car driver license to Thai in Thailand Bangkok

Convert Foreign Motorbike & Car License to Thai License - Bangkok

Convert your foreign motorbike and car licenses (licences, in UK spelling) to Thai licenses in Bangkok, in one DLT visit. We handle the document checks, the appointment and the visit itself, so you finish both conversions in about 1.5 hours.

Fee: 3,500 THB. Converting each license separately would cost 6,000 THB, so doing both together saves you 2,500 THB and a second trip.

Skip the wait. Book your DLT visit this week or next. Going through the process alone often means waiting months for an open slot, sometimes into December. We get you in fast.

No theory or practical tests

Both of your foreign licenses stand in for the exams. You do not sit a theory test or a practical test for either vehicle. The eye and reaction tests are mandatory for every applicant and take a few minutes.

Who this is for

  • You hold a valid motorbike license and a valid car license from your home country. We ask for at least 6 months of validity remaining on each.
  • You hold a long-stay visa such as Non-Immigrant O or B. Tourist visas generally do not qualify.
  • You have an address on record with a TM30 and a Residence Certificate. We can arrange both if you do not have them yet.

Documents you need

  • Passport, original and copy
  • Valid visa
  • Your existing motorbike license and your existing car license
  • Residence Certificate, from Immigration or your embassy
  • TM30 confirmation of your registered address
  • Medical certificate, issued within 30 days
  • Passport-sized photos

Any license that is not in English or Thai needs an official translation first. We can guide you on this.

How the visit works

  1. We confirm your documents before the appointment, so nothing gets rejected on the day.
  2. We meet you at Bangkok Transportation Office Area 3, 2479 Sukhumvit Road, Bang Chak, and handle both conversions in the same visit.
  3. You take the eye and reaction tests once and pay the fee.
  4. You walk out with temporary 2-year Thai licenses for both vehicles, upgradable to 5 years later.

Only one license from home?

If you hold a car license and want a Thai motorbike license too, you can convert your car license and acquire the motorbike license together for 4,000 THB. The car conversion has no theory or practical test. The motorbike license you acquire still needs the theory and practical exam, but you skip the 5-hour beginner class normally required for a motorbike application from scratch. If you hold only a motorbike license, see the motorbike conversion page.

Traveling in from Pattaya or Chonburi?

You make one trip, 1 to 2 hours each way. We prepare your documents by message beforehand and meet you at the DLT, so you are in and out in a single visit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need two appointments? No. Both conversions happen in the same visit.

What if one of my licenses is expired? Message us. An expired license cannot be converted, and we will explain the options for that vehicle, including the 4,000 THB hybrid.

Where do I get a Residence Certificate? From Immigration or your embassy. Our guide to TM30 and the Residence Certificate explains the difference, or we can arrange it for you.
